Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions explain the terms that apply when you use alanlang.co.uk and, where relevant, when you enquire about or use services, support, training or learning features provided by Alan Lang.
Additional terms may apply to a particular project, course, support arrangement or service. Where separate terms are agreed with you, those terms will apply alongside these general Terms and Conditions.
About these terms
By using this website, you agree to use it lawfully and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
Using the website does not by itself create a contract for paid services. A contract for services, support, training or learning access will normally begin only when the scope, price and other relevant arrangements have been agreed.
Nothing in these terms affects any rights you may have under applicable consumer law.
About Alan Lang
This website is operated by Alan Lang under the Alan Lang brand.
Alan Lang provides digital services, practical support, training and learning through alanlang.co.uk.
For general enquiries, you can contact me at hello@alanlang.co.uk.
Using this website
You may use this website for lawful purposes and to access the information, services and learning features made available through it.
You must not use the website in a way that could damage, disrupt or interfere with its operation, attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or another user’s account, introduce malicious software, or use the website for unlawful or fraudulent purposes.
I may restrict access where this is reasonably necessary to protect the website, other users or the services provided through it.
Information on this website
I take reasonable care to keep the information on this website clear and up to date.
However, services, course content, availability, prices and other information may change over time. Where something is important to a project, purchase or service arrangement, the details agreed directly with you will take priority over general website information.
I do not guarantee that every page will always be available or free from temporary errors or interruptions.
Enquiries and project discussions
Submitting a contact form or sending an enquiry does not create a contract or commit either of us to proceed with work.
Before bespoke work begins, the relevant scope, deliverables, price, timescale and any other important requirements will normally be discussed and agreed.
Where a quotation, proposal, email confirmation or other written agreement is provided for a specific project, that agreement will form part of the terms for that work.
Digital services and project work
Digital services may include website design and development, branding and visual design, digital presence reviews, AI-supported workflows and related digital work.
The exact work included in a project will depend on what has been agreed with you. Bespoke services are normally scoped individually rather than supplied as fixed packages.
Scope of work
The agreed scope will set out what is included in the project or service.
Work or features requested outside the agreed scope may require additional time, cost or a revised timescale. Any significant change will be discussed with you before additional work is carried out.
Information and approvals
You are responsible for providing information, content, access, approvals or other materials reasonably needed to carry out the agreed work.
Delays in providing these may affect the project timescale.
Where you approve content, designs, functionality or other work during a project, I may rely on that approval when progressing to the next stage.
Third-party services
Some projects may depend on third-party products or services such as WordPress, hosting providers, plugins, domains, email platforms, Google services or other online tools.
Where third-party services are involved, their availability, pricing, features and terms may be outside my control and may change independently.
Support services
Support may include one-to-one guidance, troubleshooting, screen-sharing or ongoing practical help.
I will use reasonable care and skill when providing support, but the outcome can depend on the information available, access to the relevant systems and the behaviour of third-party software or services.
Support does not guarantee that every technical problem can be resolved, particularly where the issue is outside my control.
Training and learning
Training may include courses, tutoring, guided learning, practical activities and digital learning resources.
Learning content is provided for educational purposes and is designed to support practical understanding and skills development.
Individual results will vary. Completing training or a course does not guarantee a particular qualification, employment outcome, business result or level of commercial performance unless this has been expressly stated as part of a specific accredited programme.
Accounts and learning access
Some learning features require you to create an account.
You are responsible for providing accurate account information and for keeping your login details secure.
Account or course access is intended for the person to whom it is provided and should not be shared unless this has been agreed.
I may suspend or restrict access where there is evidence of misuse, unauthorised sharing, security concerns or a serious breach of these terms.
Payments and invoices
Prices and payment arrangements will be made clear before paid work or services begin.
For bespoke work, the agreed quotation, proposal or invoice will set out the amount due and any relevant payment schedule.
Invoices must be paid by the due date shown on the invoice unless another arrangement has been agreed.
Cancellations and refunds
Cancellation and refund rights depend on the type of service, how it was purchased and whether work or access has already begun.
Where statutory cancellation rights apply, they will not be restricted by these terms.
For bespoke projects, support sessions, training or digital learning access, any specific cancellation arrangements will be explained before purchase or confirmed as part of the relevant agreement.
If work has already started at your request, or digital content has been supplied immediately with the required agreement, this may affect the amount that can be refunded where the law allows.
Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the content of this website, including text, graphics, branding, course materials and learning resources created by Alan Lang, remains the intellectual property of Alan Lang or the relevant rights holder.
You may use website and learning content for your own personal or agreed learning use, but you must not reproduce, resell, redistribute or republish it without permission.
For commissioned work, ownership and usage rights in final deliverables will depend on what is agreed for the particular project.
You remain responsible for ensuring that any content, images, logos or other materials you provide for a project can lawfully be used.
Third-party websites and services
This website may link to or use services provided by third parties.
I am not responsible for the content, availability, security or privacy practices of websites or services operated by third parties.
Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms, privacy policies and charges.
Liability
I will provide services with reasonable care and skill and will take reasonable steps to keep the website and learning systems operating reliably.
I am not responsible for losses caused by matters outside my reasonable control, including failures of third-party services, hosting providers, internet connections or external platforms.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, or affects rights that cannot legally be excluded under consumer law.
Suspending or ending access
I may suspend or end access to an account, course, service or other restricted part of the website where there is a serious breach of these terms, misuse of the service, security concerns, non-payment where payment is due, or another reasonable basis for doing so.
Where appropriate, I will try to provide reasonable notice before access is ended, unless immediate action is necessary for security, legal or serious misuse reasons.
Changes to these Terms and Conditions
I may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to the website, services, business arrangements or legal requirements.
Any updated version will be published on this page.
